About

Elementary School Counseling Programming

Elementary school counselors are educators uniquely trained in child development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills, who understand and promote success for today’s diverse students. They implement a school counseling program to support students through this important developmental period. The program provides education, prevention and intervention activities, which are integrated into all aspects of children’s lives. The program teaches knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to acquire in academic, career and social/emotional development, which serve as the foundation for future success.

School Counselors hold a masters degree and required state certification in school counseling.

Mrs. Raberding is in her 7th year as a school counselor and 10th as an educator. She has worked as a college and career counselor, high school counselor, and a first grade teacher. She moved from high school counseling to elementary because she saw more and more kids lacking healthy coping skills and healthy social skills with peers and adults. She strives to teach these skills in elementary for students to use throughout their lives while showing your child compassion and acceptance at Northside.

As your child's elementary school counselor she hopes to help build kind, socially aware and empathetic citizens who are able to adapt to change and meet the ever-changing challenges in our world.
